It was first reported by Roster Roundup on Wednesday night that former Mets pitcher Matt Harvey was closing in on a deal with the Oakland A’s. Sources told me later that it was a done deal and Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle noted that Harvey signed a minor league deal and would be assigned to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Harvey will be a starter in the minors for the A’s. The 30-year-old posted a 7.09 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and struck out just 39 over 59.2 innings for the Angels before being released on July 21.

The right-hander signed a one-year, $11 million last offseason after pitching to a 4.94 ERA in 155 innings during the 2018 season with the Mets and Reds.

Harvey was an All-Star during his first full season in the big leagues back in 2014 with the Mets. The former Dark Knight had his career derailed by Thoracic Outlet Syndrome back in 2016.
