The St. Louis Cardinals are still alive after Jedd Gyorko blasted a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3 on Saturday. The Cards take their postseason chase to the final day of the regular season and are one game behind San Francisco for that second wild-card spot.

Meanwhile, left-hander Ty Blach tossed eight shutout innings and outpitched Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw as San Francisco topped Los Angeles 3-0 on Saturday night. Angel Pagan homered in the fifth to break a scoreless tie. The Giants held onto their one game lead lead over the Cardinals.

So here’s how this all breaks down…

If the Giants win or the Cardinals lose the Mets will host San Francisco at Citi Field on Wednesday.

However, if the Giants lose and the Cardinals win, the two teams will face-off in a tie-breaker game on Monday to decide who wins that second wild card spot.

Personally, I don’t care who the Mets will play. Bring it on…

The Mets are playing their best baseball of the season and have the best record in the majors over the last six weeks. The team’s offense has finally started to click and I’ll take Noah Syndergaard over anyone the Giants or Cardinals throw at us, including Madison Bumgarner.
