The all-mighty Noah Syndergaard will officially start the Wild Card game at Citi Field for the New York Mets on Wednesday night.

Syndergaard, who was originally slated to start Sunday’s regular season finale in Philadelphia, will instead throw a bullpen session to ready himself for the postseason.  Gabriel Ynoa will pitch in Thor’s place on Sunday.

“It’s kind of smooth sailing for us right now up until Wednesday,” Syndergaard said. “Kind of get our mind right and then great ready to play some ball.” (NJ.com)

It has been another great year for the flame thrower, pitching to a 14-9 record with an ERA of 2.60 and a WHIP of 1.15. He has struck out 218 batters in 183.2 innings this season.

Although he may not yet know if he will be facing the Cardinals or the Giants, Thor is ready for the challenge.

“It’s like every little kid’s dream come true to pitch in a high-stakes game,” Syndergaard said. “I’ll embrace it. I look forward to it. It should be a lot of fun.”

In 2015, Syndergaard put together a nice postseason, posting a 2-1 record with a 3.32 ERA. Lifetime against the Cardinals, he is 0-2 with a 2.77 ERA while he is 1-2 with a 3.66 ERA against the Giants.

Syndergaard and the Mets may not know who their Wild Card opponent will be until Monday. The Giants can clinch the second Wild Card spot with a win on Sunday, but if they lose and the Cardinals win, the two teams will meet in a tie-breaker game on Monday.

Whether it be the Giants or the Cardinals, the Mets and Syndergaard will be ready. It is sure to be a battle no matter who they must face as the Mets will look to advance to the NLDS to take on the Cubs in a 2015 NLCS rematch.
