Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports the Mets have signed lefty reliever Chasen Shreve to a minor league deal with an invitation to major league camp.

Shreve, 29, allowed two runs in his only two big league innings in 2019 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In the minors, he had a 3.45 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 6.8 H/9, and 68 strikeouts compared to 26 walks in 60 Triple-A innings.

The former Yankee reliever (teammate of Mets manager Carlos Beltran) has a 3.71 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 203 2/3 major league innings including parts of four in New York. Shreve features a fastball in the low 90s, a slider, and a splitter that he throws around 33% of the time.

Mets currently have lefties Justin Wilson, Blake Taylor, Daniel Zamora, Thomas Szapucki, Steven Matz, and Stephen Gonsalves on the 40-man roster.
