The Mets have signed 30 year old IF/OF Brian Bixler to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training. The Mets made the announcement via Twitter.

Bixler hit .193 in 88 at-bats for the Houston Astros in 2012. He has a career batting average of .189, with 3 HR, and 14 RBI in four years with the Astros, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Washington Nationals.

This past season he appeared in 36 games for the Astros, playing second and third base, shortstop, as well as both corner outfield positions.
