Mets lose game four of the series against the Dodgers, 1-0. This is the fourth time the Mets have been shutout in just the eleven game road series. Mets bats continue to be absent in Dickey’s great start, as the Mets have been scoreless for the past sixteen innings. With the loss the Mets are now only one game over .500 on the season.

Game Summary

R.A. Dickey dominated today in his start against the Dodgers. One of his best starts of the season, but had to be taken out in the sixth inning because of an injury. He landed awkwardly in the back end of Kershaw’s landing spot. It ended up being an upper glut problem, Dickey says. He also doesn’t expect to miss his next turn. We’ll see as he’ll be heading to the Hospital for Special Surgery tomorrow to be checked out. He stayed in for a little bit after being checked out by Manuel but was later taken out despite Dickey protesting emphatically. Dickey pitched 5.2 innings only giving up two hits and striking out six batters. He walked away with a no decision.

The game once again relied on the bullpen who for the most, held their own. Valdes and Acosta pitched for 1.1 perfect innings. Pedro Feliciano didn’t have the same luck as he gave up the losing run in his inning pitched. He also struck out one and walked one. Feliciano receives the loss.

How many more times do I have to say that the Mets bats were silenced? Mets tallied seven hits but couldn’t score one run in the game. That now makes it 16 scoreless innings for the Mets offense. That also makes the fourth time the Mets were shutout in just the this eleven game road trip.

Carlos Beltran and Jason Bay combine for 0-8 with four strikeouts. They were the only two Mets starters not to get a hit. Beltran’s average has dropped to a measly .167 since coming back from the DL. Why is he batting clean up still?

Castillo was the only Mets hitter to get two hits in the game. Castillo, Wright, and Ike Davis all had doubles in the game but the Mets still couldn’t score a run.

Game Ball

RA Dickey continues to be the Mets best right handed pitcher in the second half and deserves the game ball.
