As per an image of the lineup card for tonight’s series finale against the Atlanta Braves posted to social media by Matt Ehalt of The Record, the team has reportedly removed Phillip Evans and Jacob Rhame from the active roster but they have not been officially optioned to Triple-A.
After activating Scott Copeland, Buddy Baumann, and Tim Peterson to help shore up a short bullpen, the team heads into tonight’s contest with a three-man bench and nine relievers.
We will keep you posted as more information becomes available on the Mets’ 40-man roster situation which, according to Ehalt, may not be complete just yet.
Juan Lagares will almost certainly be transferred to the 60-day disabled list, as the outfielder suffered a torn toe ligament.
However, the other move is quite unclear, but the team could theoretically call up Jamie Callahan and place him on the 60-day DL, as he has been dealing with tendinitis. The team would be forced to pay him the MLB minimum and he would accrue service time, though.
