The Mets announced on Friday that they’ve recalled left-handed Stephen Tarpley from the Alternate Site and optioned left-hander Joey Lucchesi to the site

Tarpley, 28, was claimed off waivers during the offseason and has yet to make an appearance for the Mets in the regular season. The former Marlin had a 5.68 ERA in 6 1/3 innings during spring training, he had six strikeouts and three walks.

The 27-year-old Lucchesi is coming off a start against the Cubs in which he allowed three runs in three innings, though he did strike out five. Overall, he has allowed six runs in six innings as a starter and tossed two scoreless innings as a reliever.

With the Mets having an off day next Monday and Thursday, they won’t need a fifth starter until May 4.
