The Mets have placed first baseman Lucas Duda on the disabled list, a day after he was forced to leave the game with a sore back.

Left-handed reliever Dario Alvarez was promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas and took Duda’s spot on the roster.

Duda had recently missed six starts with this back issue last week, but last night he told reporters that it locked up on him.

Duda is hitting .246 with 21 homers and 56 RBIs in 405 at-bats this season.

Daniel Murphy and Michael Cuddyer will likely share first-base duties moving forward.

Terry Collins told reporters at Coors Field that first basemen Lucas Duda was removed from Friday night’s game against the Rockies because his back “locked up” on him.

Duda, who missed six games with a sore back last week, could potentially be facing a trip to the disabled list but a decision will not be made until Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Mets also announced that left-handed reliever Dario Alvarez has been called up from Triple-A Las Vegas and will join the team on Saturday.

Alvarez has held lefties to a .118/.231/.176 slash line in 2015 and has struck out 35 lefty hitters in 68 at-bats against him.

The Mets could demote outfielder Michael Conforto in a corresponding move, unless they decide to DL Duda. Conforto hit his third home run of the season during Friday night’s game against the Rockies.

Finally, Bartolo Colon got x-rays on his swollen right wrist and the results were negative. He has a golf ball size welt on that wrist, but refused to use it as an excuse for his performance.

Colon was hit by a pitch while attempting to bunt in the second inning off Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray. He remained in the game despite the swelling on the wrist.
