The Mets defeated the Rockies tonight by a score of 14-9 in Coors field.

Offense: The Mets’ lineup once again exploded for 14 runs as they obliterated Rockies’ starter Chris Rusin. After scoring three runs in the second inning, New York erupted for eight runs in the third.

It all started with a solo shot by Juan Uribe, which broke the games’ 3-3 tie. The Mets then had eight consecutive batters reach base and were able to put the game out of reach very early.

Travis d’Arnaud, Jon Niese, Juan Lagares and Curtis Granderson all contributed with RBI hits during the inning. Overall, the Mets had a total of 21 hits on the night.

Pitching: Jon Niese allowed seven runs and eleven hits during 5.1 innings. It wasn’t a good outing for the Mets’ veteran lefty, but he earned his eight win of the season thanks to tremendous run support. He now has a 3.80 ERA during 146.2 innings pitched this season.

Tyler Clippard and Jeurys Familia were both solid in relief. They each pitched scoreless innings and did not allow any base runners.

On Deck: The Mets will look to complete the series sweep tomorrow at 4:10 PM. Logan Verrett will make his first MLB start against Rockies’ starter David Hale.
