The New York Mets announced this afternoon that Todd Frazier will begin his rehab assignment with the Las Vegas 51s this evening.

Frazier, 32, is working his way back from a left hamstring strain and was hitting .237/.357/.412 with five home runs, and 21 runs batted in 32 games this season.

The team also announced that reliever Anthony Swarzak, who pitched an inning for Las Vegas on Tuesday, is scheduled to pitch an inning of work again on Friday as he recovers from an oblique injury suffered in April.

Mets manager Mickey Callaway added that Swarzak is expected to end his rehab assignment on Sunday.

Yoenis Cespedes (strained right hip flexor) is performing baseball activities with the team here in Queens. The outfielder isn’t close to returning, but also isn’t that far away according to Mets GM Sandy Alderson.

Alderson also said Steven Matz (mild middle finger sprain) is ahead of schedule, will play catch on Thursday and said,  “Right now, he’s in a very good place.”

Matz is still currently scheduled to start on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs.
