What a game my friends!

The Mets showed some fight, some heart, and some grit… Call it whatever you want, but they played some of the best baseball of the season in taking three games out of four against the St. Louis Cardinals.

In today’s finale, they touched up Cardinals ace, Chris Carpenter for three runs thanks to a two-run double by Nick Evans who comes through again in the clutch. Manuel put Evans in the lineup as a reward for last night’s heroics when he hit a two-run homer to win the game, and once again he delivered for the Amazins.

Johan Santana started the game and immediately got into trouble in the first two innings, but came out of it allowing just one run. He got some big outs including a huge one with the bases juiced and Albert Pujols at the plate. He got Pujols to fly one to left. Sit down Albert!

He got into trouble again in the sixth inning and allowed another run, but the most intense part of the game came in the seventh inning when Pujols singled and Yadier was at the plate representing the winning run. (sound familiar?) Yadier lined out to F-Mart… Sit down Yadier!

Speaking of F-Mart… Martinez made a dazzling diving catch in centerfield, robbing Brendan Ryan of a sure-fire. Sit down Brendanl!

After a scoreless inning by Pedro Feliciano in the eighth, Frankie Rodriguez came in to close it out.

K-rod quickly got two outs, but was squeezed by the ump and the result was two walks. With the tying and winning runs on base, Yadier Molina was back at the plate and in a position to burn the Mets again, but he induced a hard liner to left and right into Jeremy Reed’s glove it landed. I thought I told you to sit your ass down Yadier!

I am so proud of our guys… To win like they did in the face of such enormous adversity with all the injuries, has been so amazing to behold.

I’m giving the game ball to all of them. They have embodied the spirit of team work and pulled together against all odds!

Bring on the Yankees!
