Syracuse (60-61) 5 ,Durham (68-53) 4 Box Score

Dilson was playing like a man who wanted to be on his next Greyhound out of Syracuse. The overall numbers are stellar but it’s unclear how much of it is due to the new baseball in the minors. Rene Rivera continues to be great. He’s probably been the biggest benefactor of the new ball.

Oswalt’s ERA in a hitter dominant league is definitely noticeable. He’s been good when healthy this season. His odds of cracking the Mets rotation this season seem unlikely barring an injury. Zamora has a solid 29:7 K-to-BB ratio in Syracuse. He could see a tryout in the Mets bullpen if some other guys don’t stick.

New Hampshire (53-68) 1, Binghamton (60-60) 0 Box Score

1B David Thompson: 2-for-4, .251/.325/.400

It was a bad day for the Binghamton offense. They had eight baserunners but left all in runners in scoring position. Not a very exciting day at the office for Binghamton.

Eight ground ball outs for Peterson, typical day at the office for him. Ryan has only given up three runs in 23 innings since May. The Mets really misused him early on. His walks are still high but at least he has shown results. Uceta should be in Syracuse.

Fort Meyers (67-53) 2, St. Lucie (67-54) 1 Box Score

2B Carlos Cortes: 2-for-3, .256/.335/.402

Cortes in the month of August is hitting .333/.434/.622. He has done a good job limiting his strikeouts and walking a good amount. The St. Lucie offense left 16 runners on base and that about sums up their game tonight.

  • RHP Luc Rennie (7-6, 3.57 ERA): 8 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 6 K

Rennie pitched the complete game but it was in a losing effort. He’s been very good since being signed out of Indy ball. His stuff is actually better than one would think. Could see better results by working out of the pen.

Charleston (64-58) 3, Columbia (47-71) 1 Box Score

Mauricio was hitless today and Vientos did not play so the offense was on Newton. Newton has had a streaky season which is expected with his profile. His potential is still very high to warrant him being a top-10 organizational prospect.

Simon has had an interesting season. He’s had a 34-to-12 K-to-BB ratio as a reliever in Columbia. James’ struggles in a league that he is repeating is disappointing. Definitely a fall far from the once top-15 Mets prospect.

Vermont (26-33) 10, Brooklyn (32-24) 2 Box Score

Garay has been hitting .323 over his last 10 so hopefully his recent surge can be sustained. The Cyclones lineup is not great but they seem to get results.

  • RHP Nathan Jones (0-1, 3.00 ERA): 2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, K
  • RHP Corey Gaconi (3-1, 4.44 ERA): 2.1 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 2 K
  • RHP Hunter Parsons (1-1, 5.06 ERA): 1.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, BB, K
  • RHP Jared Biddy (2-0, 0.00 ERA): 2 IP, H, BB, 3 K

Jones and Biddy have been solid in their shorter stints. Jones has been impressive in his shorter stints. The Mets have done well in getting college starters especially in the 2018 draft. Maybe they found another solid arm here. Biddy was not a big name but he has a 23 strikeouts to two walks in 20.2 professional innings.

Kingsport (26-28) 4, Danville (20-34) 3 Box Score

Baty has still not found his footing in Kingsport yet. His walks have gone up in recent days so hopefully that is a sign he might be rounding a corner. Alvarez had a bad day by his standards. He is very fun to keep track of.

German has been very impressive with his control. He has only walked six guys in 30 innings all season. The strikeouts are still not very high but he is a work in progress. Santos has 24-to-6 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 18.2 innings. Definitely two arms to keep an eye on.

GCL Cardinals (21-21) 3, GCL Mets (19-24) 2 Box Score

The Mets seemingly pulled a rabbit out of the hat by getting McIntosh to sign. Don’t be deceived by the slow start. The Vanderbilt commit has a ton of athleticism as his 6’4, lanky frame would indicate. Aside from him, the lineup is mostly just loaded from the 2019 draft class.

  • LHP Franklin Parra (1-1, 2.76 ERA): 3 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K
  • RHP Zachary Hammer (0-1, 2.88 ERA): 2 IP, H, 2 BB, 3 K
  • RHP Liam McCall (2-0, 4.03 ERA): 3 IP, H, ER, 2 K

Parra has an impressive 24 strikeouts in 16.1 innings this year. The walks are still pretty high but clearly there is something that is doing right. Hammer is known for his curve, as is something you would expect from someone named Hammer. He has had problems with the walks but he remains someone to keep an eye out for.

DSL Cubs2 (28-35) 8, DSL Mets2 (37-26) 6 Box Score

The offense made it interesting by scoring three in the seventh but the pitching was not up to par. Campos is a small dude who likes to run. He’s attempted 23 steals thus far but only had 11 successes.

  • RHP Rolfy Vargas (4-4, 3.15 ERA): 3.2 IP, 7 H, 6 R (5 ER), 2 BB, 2 K

Vargas has actually looked good this summer, yesterday’s start withstanding. He has more strikeouts than innings pitched and has walked 17 in 44 innings this season. Those are pretty impressive for his age.

DSL Mets (29-27) 6, DSL Nationals (17-39) 5 Box Score

Valdez has been hot as of late. He’s hit a couple of homers over his last 10 games. Hopefully he can play stateside next year.

  • RHP Joon Feliz (1-1, 1.23 ERA): 1 IP, 2 H, 2 runs (0 ER), 2 K

Feliz has an 18:8 strikeout to walk ratio in his 14.2 innings pitched this year. It’s his first professional season so he is still being eased into things.
