Mets Minors Recap: Ali Sanchez Extends Hitting Streak to 18 Games

CF Aaron Altherr: 3-for-4, .200/.415/.367
3B Dilson Herrera: 1-for-4, run, RBI, K, .267/.364/.587

Syracuse scored three in the eighth to take their lead. Dilson got that rally started with a RBI double. The toy cannon has hit for a lot of power this year after not struggling with shoulder problems. Either the Mets are still in the PCL or Dilson may have found something.

Santana continues to look okay as a starter in Syracuse. He might be called up at the rate at which the Mets are going through arms. Avilan made his Syracuse debut. He’s probably got a few more appearances left in his rehab assignment. The Mets could actually use him as a LOOGY.

The Binghamton lineup continues to struggle but Sanchez extended his hitting streak to 18 games. Luis Carpio has hit .342 over his last 10 games. It looks like he is finally heating up.

It looks like the Mets want Church as a starter as opposed to being in the bullpen. Villines has continued to excel in Binghamton but still looking to tackle the hump in Syracuse.

St. Lucie (40-36) 3, Duedin (46-28) 0 Box Score

DH Carlos Cortes: 1-for-4, BB, .259/.336/.424

Cortes has had a strange month. He’s hit only .230 but he has walked more than he’s struck out so odds are, his numbers will normalize once again. He had an great May so he was bound to hit into some bad luck.

It was a team effort but a job well done nonetheless. Campos and Ramos have both had good performances this season. Campos has 29 strikeouts in 20.2 innings this season. Ramos has seen his strikeouts go down but walks go up since moving to St. Lucie but he has the results.

SS Ronny Mauricio: 1-for-4, .283/.321/.376

The Fireflies only had four baserunners the whole game. Mauricio has seen his strikeouts go up a tick as of late. He will figure it out soon enough though.

James has not exactly taken off as some were hoping. He has good starts at times but his lack of strikeouts has been unimpressive. Perhaps the Mets switch him over to the bullpen at some point to see if his stuff will play up there.

Brooklyn had to go into extra innings to win this one but they got it done. They got their run in the 10th on a RBI double from Jose Medina. Not everyone has been great for Brooklyn but Genord has led the way among the recent draftees. He is a big time power hitter from the senior signees.

Acosta has seen an increase in his strikeouts this season. His walks are also up but he is still just 20 so he might be worth watching moving forward. Goggin has this one appearance weighing down his early professional career. He had good results prior to this. Metoyer has walked as many as he has struck out. 11-to-11 in just eight innings.

Neither Francisco Alvarez or Brett Baty were in the lineup today. Hernandez did not do much but he’s looked to start this season. Lugo is interesting due to his 6’3 frame and the fact he is athletic enough to play shortstop.

Hammer made his season debut. He was an interesting pick last year. His curveball was pretty good and had a nice fastball to go along with it. Really following in the Hammer name.
