Tacoma 6, Las Vegas (60-49) 4

The 51’s scored a run in the 9th on a RBI single by Matt Reynolds (1-4, RBI) and had the tying run on base with nobody out but had the final three hitters retired in order to end the threat. Dilson Herrera was 2-4 with two runs scored a three-run homerun for his 4th of the season for Las Vegas.

Darrell Ceciliani was 2-4 stretching his hitting streak to 8 games and is hitting .378 over his last ten. Brandon Nimmo was 0-3 and is just 2-17 since his promotion to Las Vegas but did throw out a runner at 3rd base. Danny Muno was 1-3 with a run scored, he has seven walks and nine runs scored in his last 9 games.

Matthew Bowman fell to 7-11 after going 5 innings giving up two runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out six. Dario Alvarez pitched a scoreless 8th inning allowing one hit and striking out one. He now has three scoreless for Las Vegas and hasn’t given up an earned run since May 30th spanning 18 innings. Richmond 2, Binghamton (59-48) 0

The B’Mets had the same amount of hits as the Squirrels (7) but could not scratch a run across after going 1-6 with runners in scoring position that stranded 9 runners on base. Josh Rodriguez came up as the winning run in the 9th inning but he struck out to end the game.  It was a bullpen game for Binghamton because it was Michael Fulmer‘s scheduled start.

Gavin Cecchini was 2-4 raising his season average to .317 after going 18-39 with seven RBI over his last 9 games. T.J. Rivera and Vince Belnome were both 2-3 with a walk on the day.

Beck Wheeler pitched two scoreless innings giving up two hits and striking out two as he lowered his ERA to 4.33 on the year. Jeff Walters made his 4th rehab appearance for Binghamton pitching a perfect inning and has yet to allow a run in four innings for the B’Mets. In his last ten innings he has given up one run while striking out twelve. Akeel Morris pitched a scoreless inning and has allowed just one run in his last 11 innings in AA. Box Score

St. Lucie (54-52) 7, Clearwater 2 

The Mets scored two runs in the first and five runs in the second which was all the knuckleballer Mickey Jannis would need as he went 7 scoreless. Jannis moved to 2-0 while lowering his ERA to 3.15 as he allowed four hits, two walks, and struck out three.

Erik Goeddel returned to the mound recording two outs but gave up a run on three hits with a strikeout. He is eligible to come off the disabled list on August 11th.

Dominic Smith was 1-3 with a walk, run scored, and two RBI giving him 63 for the year which ranks 2nd in the Florida State League. Victor Cruzado was 3-4 with two RBI and has hit safely in 7 of his last 9 games while scoring 7 runs in that span. Matt Oberste went 2-4 with two runs scored, his 45th RBI, and 17th double. Jeff McNeil was 1-3 with two RBI, run scored, walk, and his 14th double. Box Score

Asheville 2, Savannah (57-48) 0

The Sand Gnats were held scoreless despite outhitting the Tourists 7-6, they went 1-8 with runners in scoring position that stranded six runners. Luis Guillorme and Natanael Ramos each collected two hits on the night. Michael Katz was 1-4 with his 9th double, he is now hitting .341 over his last ten games. Wuilmer Becerra was out of the lineup for the 2nd straight day.

Martires Arias pitched 6 strong innings giving up two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out six. He saw his Sand Gnats ERA raise to 2.72 and had his record fall to 5-5. He has allowed only 76 hits in 103 innings with 99 punchouts.

Christian Montgomery had a much needed perfect inning, he had allowed seven runs in his last two innings. Luis Mateo made his 2nd Savannah rehab appearance (nine overall) pitching a scoreless 8th inning giving up a hit and walk. Over his 13 innings he has allowed just one run while striking out 12. Batavia 1, Brooklyn (22-19) 0 

The Cyclones reached base only four times on singles by Enmanuel Zabala and Jose Garcia while Brandon Brosher and Jeffrey Diehl each walked. David Thompson was 0-3 with two strikeouts, he is now hitting only .237 for the season.

Chris Flexen made the start going 4.2 innings giving up an unearned run on four hits, five walks, and struck out four. Johnny Magliozzi pitched 2.1 scoreless in relief allowing three hits and striking out two batters while lowering his ERA to 1.13 for Brooklyn. Craig Missigman pitched two perfect inning with two strikeouts, he has now given up two runs and 13 hits in 22 innings. Box Score

Kingsport (19-20) 6, Greeneville 1

Thomas McIlraith, 20th round, moved to 3-0 in his 4th start of his career going 6 innings allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out three. Erik Manoah went 3 scoreless in relief giving up four baserunners and striking out three on his way to his third save.

Kevin Kaczmarski was 2-5 with a RBI, run scored, 8th stolen base, and is now hitting .303/.369/.394 on the season. Patrick Mazeika was 1-3, two runs scored, walk, league leading 16th double, and his 28th double which is good for 2nd in the Appalachian league. He also extended his hitting streak to 7 games and is hitting .313/.425/.522 to start his career.

Dash Winningham was 1-5, he has now hit safely in 8 of last 10 games. Milton Ramos was 1-4 with a RBI, he as hit safely in 8 of 10 games as well but is hitting just .222 in that span. Ivan Wilson was 0-5 with two more strikeouts giving him 40 on the season. Luis Ortega was 2-4 with a run scored and a RBI, he has hit safely in 9 of 10 games with a .324 average over that span. Over The Weekend

Recently signed veteran Tim Stauffer got the win on Saturday in the Las Vegas 51’s 8-4 win, he went 5.1 innings giving up three runs. Vic Black pitched a scoreless inning with one walk while throwing 19 pitches (13 strikes). Black has now given up only one earned run over his last 7 innings. Matt Reynolds was 4-5 with two runs scored, his 25th double, and 49th RBI.

Binghamton won 6-5 on Saturday with Gabriel Ynoa getting his 8th win and Paul Sewald picking up his 17th save of the season. Cecchini and Rivera (who was demoted despite outplaying numerous players in Vegas) both had two hits.

Savannah won 3-0 on Saturday thanks to a 7 inning gem by Casey Delgado who allowed just two hits while striking out six.

The Brooklyn Cyclones lost 10-3 on Saturday but David Thompson hit his 2nd professional homerun.
