The New York Mets were defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 4-1 tonight at Miller Park.

It was an embarrassing defeat on many levels for the Mets as one of the worst pitchers in the National League, Jimmy Nelson, held them to just two hits over eight innings.

Nelson had a 6.06 ERA entering the game and had been hammered in just about all of his starts against NL teams this season.

It’s the seventh consecutive loss for the Mets and it drops them under .500 for the first time since early April.

Bartolo Colon allowed four runs on ten hits and a walk in his six innings of work, certainly not the kind of start the team was looking for. His ERA now stands at a season high of 4.89. Not good.

Logan Verrett relieved Colon and pitched two scoreless innings. He looks promising to me.

The only run of the game for the Mets was a solo homerun by Curtis Granderson off Nelson in the fourth.

This is getting so frustrating. The last time the Mets lost seven straight was in April of 2011.

The team looks listless at the plate. So many first pitch strikes it’s disgusting. The are batting .077 with runners in scoring position during this 0-7 road trip. They are 3-18 in their last 21 games away from Citi Field. Pathetic.

Can somebody show us some accountability? They have erased all the good feelings of that 13-3 start.

Something has to be done to shake this team up, although I’m at a loss as to what that should be. They just can’t stand back and do nothing.

The Mets wrap up this series against the Brewers on Thursday in a 2:10 PM start. Jacob deGrom (7-5, 2.34 ERA) gets the start for the Mets and will be opposed by Taylor Jungmann (2-1, 3.50 ERA) for the Brewers.
