The Mets released their lineups for Wednesday’s night game against the San Francisco Giants and Robinson Cano is hitting third in it as Tim Healey of Newsday reports that he has been activated from the 10-day injured list.

As a corresponding move, the Mets have DFA’d Aaron Altherr for assignment, as reported by Tim Britton of the Athletic.

Cano, 36, was placed on the 10-day IL on May 23 after suffering a quad injury the night prior against the Washington Nationals.

2019 has not been great for Cano, though, as he is hitting a mere .241/.287/.371 with three home runs, 13 RBI, and a 79 OPS+.

The second baseman was acquired along with Edwin Diaz from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for Jarred Kelenic, Justin Dunn, Gerson Bautista, Jay Bruce (now on the Philadelphia Phillies), and Anthony Swarzak (now on the Atlanta Braves).

Cano is in the sixth year of a 10-year, $240 million contract he signed back in 2013 while current Mets’ GM Brodie Van Wagenen was representing him as part of CAA.

Meanwhile, the Mets claimed Altherr off waivers on May 23, but after hitting a home run in his first at-bat with the Mets, he has not recorded a hit in his last 10 plate appearances while he has struck out six times.

On the year, Altherr has hit .050/.095/.150 with one home run and two RBI to give himself a -37 OPS+. He has also 16 times in 42 plate appearances split between the Mets, San Francisco Giants, and Philadelphia Phillies.
