Matt Ehalt of The Record reports that Devin Mesoraco is dealing with a tight hamstring. However, there doesn’t seem to be any sense of urgency, so with the day off Monday, Mesoraco will likely return for Tuesday’s matchup against the Orioles at Citi Field.
Any injury to Mesoraco should raise an eyebrow considering his history, but in this case, don’t think too much about it. The 29-year-old managed to play in just 95 games in 2015, ’16, and ’17, but now has a clean bill of health.
He has been solid since the Mets acquired him from the Reds for Matt Harvey, hitting .217/.309/.500 (.809 OPS) with five home runs and 10 RBIs. He has thrown out one of 12 potential base-stealers (8%).
The Mets already have Jose Lobaton and Kevin Plawecki on the 25-man roster, so don’t expect any roster moves. However, Todd Frazier is likely to return for Tuesday’s game, so if Mesoraco’s hamstring checks out, expect Lobaton to hop on a plane.
