lucas duda

According to Lynn Worthy of the Press & Sun Bulletin, first baseman Lucas Duda has completed his rehab assignment with Double-A Binghamton and is heading to Washington D.C. to rejoin the team on Monday when the Mets begin a critical three-game series with the Nationals.

Duda played all nine innings and went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a walk in his second rehab game with Binghamton on Sunday. He finished 2-for-3 on Saturday.

With Michael Cuddyer out of action with a sore wrist, the Mets could surely use Duda who was hitting .247 with 28 doubles, 21 home runs, 56 RBIs and a .818 OPS before he went on the disabled list.

The team announced today that Lucas Duda will begin a rehab assignment this weekend with Double-A Binghamton.

Duda, who began lightly swinging a bat on Wednesday, could possibly be activated from the disabled list in time for the big series in Washington against the Nationals next week which would be huge.

Diagnosed with a small thoracic disc herniation in early August, Duda’s return would add some significant punch to a lineup that has already been averaging over 6.5 runs per game since July 25. That’s the second best mark in MLB.
