New York Mets’ starting pitcher Jordan Yamamoto left his start on Sunday after experiencing shoulder soreness.

Yamamoto, 25, surrendered five runs in a disastrous second inning on Sunday that was ultimately his undoing. The right-hander did rebound to pitch through the fourth, after which he was removed.

Post game, while meeting with members of the media via Zoom, Yamamoto said that he was unsure if he was going to have to receive an MRI for the injury.

Team manager Luis Rojas said the team is traveling back to New York and Yamamoto will be re-evaluated on Monday.
