After the Mets finish out the weekend series in DC on Sunday, their schedule until after the All Star break gets a heck of a lot tougher.

Tuesday the Mets open a three game set at CitiField with the Phillies. Next weekend they head up to the Bronx. After the Bronx its three down in Baltimore against the Orioles. But from June 19th, until after July 19th the Mets play the following quality teams in order: Tampa Bay, Cardinals, Yankees, Brewers, Phillies, Dodgers, Reds, Braves.

That is truly a rough stretch of games!

By the All-Star break we’ll know if the Mets are going to be buyers or sellers this summer. The way the Mets have been plagued by injuries, you just got to hope for the best for the next month and a half.

Just a word on injuries, its amazing that only 52 games into the season there have been so many injuries. Omar needs to appoint someone (preferably an outside consultant), to look at and seriously re-evaluate the Mets conditioning program. This season reminds me a lot of 1987, when just about every Met starting pitcher wound up on the DL at some point during the season.

One last thing: stop kidding yourself thinking either Omar or Jerry are going to get fired.

Firstly they just signed new contracts, we know the Wilpons won’t eat them.

Secondly, they have the injury card to play.

Those two things will guarantee Omar and Jerry will be back in 2010.
