Las Vegas 7, Reno 1

Josh Satin caught wind of Ike Davis showing signs of life at the plate and decided that he needed to step it up a notch – so he ripped four hits and drove in four runs in this 7-1 Las Vegas victory.

On the pitching end of the victory was Carlos Torres, who has honestly turned it up a notch ever since I called him out in the beginning of May. I honestly don’t know if he read my little rant, but since then, he has had just one bad start (6.0 IP, 4 ER) and the other three starts have all been at least 6.0 innings with only 1 ER allowed. That’s actually pretty impressive.

Torres was on his game again last night and allowed only three hits and a walk over six-and-two-thirds innings. Gonzalez Germen and Greg Peavey combined to finish the game for him with 2.1 scoreless innings.

As I mentioned before, Satin was the big man on offense with his four RBIs, but Wilmer Flores, Brian Bixler, and Omar Quintanilla all had RBIs in this one as well. Quintanilla was noticably removed from the ball game in favor of Brandon Hicks as he is rumored to be on his way to the MLB team.

Chris Schwinden takes the mound for the 51s tomorrow against Garrett Mock.
