harvey-wheeler-degrom

Hey, you all know how I occasionally love to highlight something I come across in our comment threads, where you can learn something new everyday if you’re able to navigate your way through all the Sandy Lover stuff. (Heh heh)

Here’s something cool that jumped out at me from one of our readers, Taskmaster.

Task provided a comparison that illustrates how Matt Harvey, Zack Wheeler and Jacob deGrom have already surpassed what Generation K (Bill Pulsipher, Paul Wilson, Jason Isringhausen) did as Mets.

Check this out…

Harvey/Wheeler/deGrom

107 GS,  39-32 W-L,  3.13 ERA,  662 IP,  676 K,  179 BB,  1.10 WHIP

Generation K

95 GS,  28-40 W-L,  4.70 ERA,  608 IP,  415 K,  264 BB,  1.48 WHIP

One of the big thrills for me this season (and I’m sure for you as well) will be watching Harvey, Wheeler and deGrom pitching in the Mets rotation at the same time. The three of them have yet to do that.

It’s going to be fun watching these three challenging each other all season long the way the Braves young trio of Greg Maddux, John Smoltz and Tom Glavine used to do for the Braves.

I might be getting a little ahead of myself, but I can see Harvey, Wheeler and deGrom each winning 15-17 games this season with one of them possibly touching 20 wins. If we can give them the run support, it’s certainly very possible. By the middle of this season, I’m thinking they could be one of the best 1-2-3 punches in baseball.
