The Mets (62-52) defeated the Colorado Rockies (47-65) by a score of 3-0 tonight at Citi Field, and in the process, taking the series from Colorado.

Pitching:

Jacob deGrom followed Matt Harvey‘s dazzling outing last night with a deGrominant performance of his own. The righty went seven strong innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, while walking four and striking out ten, as well as dropping his ERA to a ridiculous 2.03.

The only real threat posed against deGrom came in the fifth inning, when DJ LeMahieu hit a ground rule double and subsequently stole third.

Michael McKenry then walked, and was moved up on a sacrifice bunt from Rockies’ pitcher Jorge De La Rosa. With two out, however, deGrom struck out Charlie Blackmon to end the inning.

Tyler Clippard pitched a 1,2,3 inning in the eighth, before handing the ball over to Jeurys Familia, who earned his 32nd save of the year.

Though Familia stumbled out of the gate to start the second half of the season, it seems that the Mets’ closer has regained his form, as he has looked better and better his last few times out.

Offense:

In the fourth inning, Juan Lagares singled to lead off the inning, and advanced to second on a ground out from Curtis GrandersonJuan Uribe then hit a deep double to center field to score Lagares.

Michael Cuddyer, playing in his second game back from the disabled list, drove in Uribe the next at-bat with a line drive single up the middle.

The game would remain 2-0 until the bottom of the eighth inning, when Yoenis Cespedes hit his first home run as a New York Met. It is Cespedes’ 19th of the season, and it cushioned the lead and provided some much appreciated insurance to help seal the win.

On deck:

The Mets hand the ball off to Noah Syndergaard (6-6, 3.01 ERA) tomorrow, and he will be opposed by Eddie Butler (3-9, 5.50 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM.
