Terry Collins told reporters in Miami that Daniel Murphy received a platelet-rich plasma therapy injection on Thursday for his left quadriceps strain.
He is fully unavailable today while it takes effect and possibly Saturday as well.
Murphy had an MRI yesterday on his left quad and team doctors diagnosed him with a mild strain.
Initially Murphy left last Wednesday’s game, for what the team said was precautionary reasons.
Murphy is batting .282 this season with a .755 OPS. In 446 plate appearances he has 31 doubles, 10 homers, and 58 RBIs.

Daniel Murphy had to leave Wednesday night’s game against the Phillies due to an apparent quad injury.
The Mets are calling it “mild discomfort” in his left quad and say they removed him “as a precaution.”
While rounding first base on a double in the bottom of the third inning, Murphy pulled up lame as he came to second base and was in obvious discomfort.
Murphy has already spent some time on the disabled list from June 5 to June 30 with a left quad injury and hopefully this is not a recurrence of that.
Michael Cuddyer entered the game at first base in place of Murphy.
We’ll keep you posted once we know more, and knowing the Mets and injuries, there will be more.
