After a day off on Thursday, the New York Mets begin a three-game series against the Miami Marlins tonight at Marlins Park.

On the mound for the Mets is Jacob deGrom (12-7, 2.32) and hevopposes right-hander Tom Koehler (8-13, 4.12) for the Marlins in Friday’s 7:10 PM series opener.

The Mets are 36-18 vs. the NL East this year, including 14-11 on the road. Their .667 winning percentage is the best for any team within its own division this year. The franchise record for winning percentage vs. the NL East is .657 (59-31), set in 1986.

Jacob deGrom is 9-3 with a 1.93 ERA with 22 walks and 134 strikeouts over his last 18 starts dating to May 16. His 1.93 ERA ranks fourth among qualified major league starters in that time. The Mets have gone 14-4 in his last 18 outings.

Dario Alvarez is expected to join the team tonight and will wear #68. He was 3-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 48 games combined between Las Vegas (AAA) and Binghamton (AA) and lefties are 9-72 (.125) against him.

Jacob deGrom gets the start tonight. On the season he is 12-7 over 25 starts and 163.0 innings with a 2.32 ERA. He responded to his worst start of the year with a 6.0 inning, 2 ER outing last time out against the Red Sox striking out 10 batters. He only faced the Marlins once this year and it was way back in April where he held the Marlins scoreless over 7.0 innings while striking out 8. The Marlins have the following numbers against deGrom:

He had a couple of good starts in that mix but he also had some clunkers including a 7 R, 6 ER start over 4.1 innings against the Mets.
