According to Andy Martino of the Daily News, left fielder Michael Cuddyer will avoid the disabled list and should only miss a few games.

The outfielder underwent an MRI on his left knee Wednesday and received a cortisone shot to relieve the pain.

Michael Cuddyer exited Tuesday’s game against the Cubs in the seventh inning with a sore left knee, the team reported.

He was replaced in left field by fourth outfielder Darrell Ceciliani and was 0-for-2 before departing.

After the game, Cuddyer said he first felt soreness in his left knee while running to first base in the second inning, but kept it to himself.

However, as the game went on it became too painful that he told trainers and Terry Collins that he couldn’t go on.

“It had progressively gotten tighter to the point where I had to say something,” Cuddyer said. He will undergo an MRI on Wednesday after which the Mets will decide if he needs to go on the DL.

“I’m definitely concerned, but honestly, I don’t jump to conclusions until after we see that MRI,” Cuddyer said. “Then we’ll deal with whatever it is.”

Cuddyer, whom the Mets signed to a two-year, $21 million dollar contract last November, has missed some games this season with a sore back and to rest a sore neck so this knee issue is new.

The Mets left fielder has just six home runs with a .239 average and has started in 67 of the team’s 78 games this year.

The Mets sacrificed a first round pick in this year’s draft for the former batting champion.

Cuddyer, 36, is batting .178  with a .473 OPS in the last 23 games spanning 85 plate appearances.

“That’s baseball,” Cuddyer said on Sunday. “You have years and months where things don’t go your way.”

“It stinks. I don’t like it. I don’t want to do it. But you continue to prepare and you continue to put the work in and you hope those things change.”
