The Pacific Coast League announced its All-Star team roster which includes two Las Vegas 51’s, infielder Matt Reynolds and outfielder Travis Taijeron.

The 24-year old Reynolds is hitting .270/.328/.404 with 22 doubles (7th in PCL), 2 triples, 4 homeruns, and 43 RBI in 73 games with 57 of those coming at shortstop. I was honestly surprised to see Matt make the All-Star team because he hitting less than the team average slash line of .284/.353/.451 and worse than the PCL average line of .269/.336/.408 for the year. He was also named to the Arizona Fall League All-Star during the fall last year.

Taijeron, 26, has played exclusively right field this year and is batting .297/.407/.545 with 9 doubles, 2 triples, 13 homeruns (tied for 7th) while knocking in 40 runs. His .953 OPS ranks him fourth in the PCL but his 78 strikeouts also rank him at #4 in the league.

The Binghamton Mets will send four representatives to the Eastern League All-Star game for the third straight season and they are: outfielder Brandon Nimmo, infielder Josh Rodriguez, closer Paul Sewald, and starting pitcher Luis Cessa.

For 22-year old Nimmo this is his third straight All-Star selection after being selected in for Savannah in 2013 and St. Lucie last season, he was also named an Arizona Fall league All-Star this offseason. Nimmo has played in only 46 games for the B’Mets this year because of a knee injury and is hitting .292/.359/.400 with 10 doubles, 2 triples, 2 homeruns with 11 RBI. He has played right field for the first time this year (8 games) while still playing mostly center field (37 games).

Rodriguez, 30, returned to the Mets organization after playing in the minors for the Miami Marlins last year and made the EL roster for the third time (2nd with Mets). Rodriguez slash line is .275/.365/.504 with 10 doubles, 6 stolen bases, league leading 13 homeruns, and EL runner-up with 50 RBI. He has played all four infield positions this year with his most (31 games) being at third base.

The Mets selected Sewald, 25,  in the 10th round in 2012 out of the University of San Diego and he has been nothing but successful in the organization sporting a pro ERA of 1.82. This year he has a 1.67 ERA, 0.866 WHIP, 5.00 SO/W while ranking 4th in the league with 14 saves. The league is hitting just .193 against him which ranks 5th among relievers in the league.

The 23-year old Cessa enjoys his first career All-Star selection just four years after converting from an infielder to a pitcher in the Mets system. Cessa is tied for 2nd in the league with 7 wins, 7th in ERA at .256 while giving up only two homeruns all year without hitting a batter. He has issued just 17 walks in 77.1 innings and is 4-1 with a 1.56 ERA over his last six starts.
