On Tuesday night, Michael Conforto continued his incredibly impressive start to the 2019 season as he went 2=for-3 with two walks, a double, a home run, and three RBI while also scoring three run runs against the Minnesota Twins.

His double and home run both came off Twins’ right-hander Kyle Gibson, in the second and third innings, respectively.

Conforto, 26, has now homered and doubled in each of his last three games and he doesn’t plan to stop any time soon. He’s had quite the start to the season batting .351/.415/.595 with an OPS of 1.009. In 40 at-bats, Michael already has three home runs, nine RBI, and four doubles.

While there are fans calling this Michael Conforto’s “break out year,” he definitely seems to look good early on this year. Michael’s best season so far was in 2017 when he slashed .279/.384/.555 securing him a spot as an NL All-Star reserve.

Early in the season, you can see the “rivalry” between Michael Conforto and rookie, Pete Alonso. It seems that every time Michael gets a home run, Pete Alonso gets one as well and vice versa. Alonso does have two more home runs than him at this moment. Some fans are so enamored by Alonso that they are overlooking the quiet success that Conforto has had.

The outfielder is playing much differently than he did in the first half of last season in which he registered a lowly .710 OPS in 85 games before the All-Star Break.

However, he had a scorching hot end to his season in which he had a .895 OPS in the last 68 games of the season and had a .981 OPS in September, which was the highest of any month for him.

Conforto’s start this year looks promising and if he shows his true potential this year and is more consistent, there is no reason that he can’t become an All-Star and possibly even an MVP candidate.
