Mets owner Steve Cohen expects to win a championship sooner rather than later.

“If I don’t win a World Series in the next 3-5 years… I would consider that slightly disappointing,” Cohen said during the introductory news conference Tuesday.

Cohen also added that his focus isn’t on turning around the team in one year by simply throwing money at the problem. The new Mets owner said he wants to build this team into a champion from the ground up, by strengthening the farm system, analytic department and the front office.

“I don’t wanna be good one year and bad three years,” Cohen said. “I want to be good every year.”

Cohen said he expects to add talent to the team, but that will not be the only thing the team will do in order to improve and win a championship.
