The New York Mets are heading into their first offseason of the Steve Cohen era and it is shaping up to be a thrilling one.

During his first press conference as the new owner, Cohen fielded a variety of questions but when addressing this current roster, it is clear where the Mets need to make additions.

“We need to add catching and we need to add pitching too.”

Cohen explained that the Mets have the best pitcher in baseball, with Jacob deGrom, but supporting their ace is obviously a priority this offseason after watching the pitching staff struggle in 2020.

Also after declining the options on both Wilson Ramos and Robinson Chirinos‘ contracts, there is a clear need at catcher as well.

Cohen has been very complimentary talking about the great young core of Mets position players they currently have. Now they need to address the other areas of need on the roster to be a true contender in 2021.
