Morning Briefing: Lindor Could Be Activated Wednesday

Good morning, Mets fans! The Mets had three big leaguers rehabbing with Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, and all three delivered excellent nights at the plate. Francisco Lindor went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored, Tyrone Taylor finished 3-for-5 with a double and a homer, and Ronny Mauricio drove in three runs while going 2-for-4. Lindor came away from the game healthy and could be activated for...

Another Senga Dud Fuels 9-6 Loss to Cubs

After a rainout series opener on Monday, the New York Mets and Chicago Cubs got their four-game series underway on Tuesday. It was right-handed pitcher Edward Cabrera (4-4, 5.10 ERA, 65 SO) on the mound for Chicago against the right-hander Kodai Senga (0-5, 10.08 ERA, 34 SO) on the hill for the Mets. Senga had a less-than-impressive outing yet again as his 2026 nightmare season continues. Senga...

Juan Soto Leaves Game with Back Tightness

The hits keep on coming. Juan Soto has left Tuesday’s game against the Cubs after the fourth inning with back tightness. He was replaced by Mark Vientos in the lineup, and Jared Young moved from first to left field. Soto was replaced after two at-bats. He was seen previously in the dugout with a brace/heating pad on his lower back. He was removed from the game with the team down 7-2 after...

Tuesday, June 23, 2026 • 7:10 PM Citi Field • Flushing, NY RHP Edward Cabrera (4-4, 5.21) vs. RHP Kodai Senga (0-5, 9.00) SNY The Mets are so close to things getting better (in theory). Francisco Lindor played a rehab game on Sunday with Tyrone Taylor. Christian Scott had a successful bullpen session and should start this weekend. The problem is that the team they are all coming back to is...

Stearns: Rotation is on “Turn-by-Turn” Basis

With the Mets set to play four games within 48 hours, what’s bothered the Mets the last month is in question again: what’s up with their rotation? While addressing the media Tuesday, David Stearns said the Mets will continue to evaluate the rotation on a “turn-by-turn” basis. Like the offense earlier in the year, Stearns said the team hasn’t received “consistent” performance from its...

Morning Briefing: Lindor to Play an Additional Rehab Game

Good morning, Mets fans! On Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reported that despite initial reports of Francisco Lindor returning to the Mets for a simulated game on Tuesday, the shortstop will complete an additional rehab game in Triple-A Syracuse. Assuming all goes well, Lindor could be activated as soon as Wednesday, and play as soon as Thursday after a rest day.  Lindor’s return is...

Mets-Cubs Game Postponed

The Mets will not play tonight. Due to weather, their game with the Cubs has been postponed to Wednesday as a split-doubleheader. The first game will start at 1:10 pm with Game 2 starting at 7:10 pm. Kodai Senga, who was supposed to start Monday, will get the start Tuesday against Edward Cabrera.  Nolan McLean and Sean Manaea will both start in Wednesday’s games while Freddy Peralta closes out...

In the last three weeks,...

Series Preview: Mets Return Home to Face Cubs

The Mets return home once more, and things are not on the upswing. After building some positive momentum, New York faltered against the Phillies and lost two of three games in Philadelphia. The starting pitching was not up to task, and despite some offensive flashes, the lineup was shut down by Cristopher Sánchez and Zach Wheeler. New York now arrives back at Citi Field, welcoming the Chicago...

Peterson Fails to Capitalize With Opportunity

David Peterson made his first start since May 26 on Sunday against the Phillies. With a majority of the Mets’ rotation struggling or injured, the southpaw stepping up would have gone a long way. Especially in a rubber game against a division rival. Instead, it was more of the same for Peterson and the Mets. They fell behind early and could not recover, losing 6-2 to drop another series and...

Morning Briefing: Lindor Return Imminent

Good morning, Mets fans! I have had enough of Kyle Schwarber. Francisco Lindor went 0-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base, a run scored, and played nine innings at shortstop in Triple-A Syracuse’s 5-3 victory over Norfolk on Sunday. Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reported that Lindor (strained left calf) is likely to return to the Mets this week, but probably not until at least Wednesday. “I...

Mets Drop Series In Philadelphia Behind Peterson’s Early Struggles

Sports, and specifically baseball, can have patterns to them. As a season churns along, games start to mirror each other, even if they do not occur in the exact same way. This can happen when a team repeatedly fails, and it can happen when a team repeatedly succeeds. Unfortunately for the Mets, the rhythm of things has fallen into the negative category. Facing the Phillies on Sunday night, the...
