If your palms get sweaty and your stomach gets nauseous at the thought of Jose Reyes in Yankees pinstripes, you can breathe easier now.

According to this post in The Sporting News, New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told the New York Daily News that is “just not going to happen.”

“We have an everyday shortstop in Derek Jeter,” Cashman said. “And I think we have an everyday shortstop that would be playing for a lot of clubs in Eduardo Nunez. The Yankees don’t have a need now or in the future for a shortstop.”

Well that’s a relief… sort of. You see, while Reyes might not be leading off for the Yankees anytime soon, the Daily News speculates that right fielder Carlos Beltran could be a perfect trade target for the Yankees.
