New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman talked to reporters on Friday afternoon and told Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, that he’s been talking to good friend Omar Minaya as he actively tries to improve their rotation.
Minaya of course is the former Mets GM and now part of the three-headed decision making monster ( and needing Jeff Wilpon approval) with John Ricco and J.P. Ricciardi after GM Sandy Alderson’s health forced him to step aside.
Cashman also told the reporters that possible scrutiny and the rivalry wouldn’t stop the him from making a blockbuster deal with the Mets.

The New York Yankees are serious World Series contenders with a strong need for starting pitching and the New York Mets are sellers with a few desirable starters.
Thus, we will continue to hear the two franchises connected in trade rumors despite the fact that they haven’t made a significant in-season trade since the Mets shipped Armando Benitez to the Yankees in 2003.
Which brings us to Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reporting that Yankees GM Brian Cashman told reporters on Thursday that he’s been engaged in multiple trade discussions with the Mets.
Rosenthal thinks the comment was more than Cashman simply stating what had actually been done, “But his response effectively applied pressure to his cross-town rivals, whose ownership might be too concerned with public perception to trade right-hander Jacob deGrom or Noah Syndergaard to the Bronx.”
