Hey Mets fans… Can you feel the surge? I’m talking about the power surge that we’ve seen at Citi Field this season and was at the forefront of this recent homestand capped off by three homers in Sunday’s 5-2 win over the Washington Nationals.

Curtis Granderson, Daniel Murphy and Lucas Duda all homered in the third inning, and it was the first time the Mets have hit three home runs in an inning since June 7, 2007 vs. Philadelphia when Carlos Delgado, David Wright and Paul Lo Duca homered back-to-back-to-back off Cole Hamels in the sixth inning. Yes, that Cole Hamels…

The Mets have hit 26 home runs in their last 13 home games dating back to July 10 and had multiple home runs in nine of those 13 games.

Amazingly, the Mets have hit 61 home runs in 56 home games this season. And overall they have 95 home runs for the season which ranks sixth in the National League.

Duda is in beast-mode now after a six week slumber. His two-run homer in the third inning was his 21st home run of the season and he now has nine home runs in his last eight games dating to July 25. He now has nine home runs since the All-Star break, which are the most for any player in the major leagues.

Incredibly, 18 of Duda’s 21 home runs this season have been hit at Citi Field – you know – that ballpark that used to be in everyone’s heads. 🙂

Anyway, if you missed all the excitement of that three homer outburst or would like to see it again, here it is… Sit back and enjoy the spectacle.
