Multiple reports say the Toronto Blue Jays have signed right-handed starting pitcher Dylan Cease to a seven-year, $210 million deal.
Cease, 29, is coming off arguably the worst season of his career after posting a 4.55 ERA for the San Diego Padres.
The former White Sox starter did make at least 32 starts in his fifth straight season, and led the majors with his 11.5 strikeouts per nine innings in 2025.
Cease has finished in Top 5 of Cy Young Award voting twice, including his best season in 2022 when he finished second behind Justin Verlander.
Early offseason reports said the American League champs were expected to be aggressive this offseason after falling one win short winning the World Series. They strike first among big marquee free agent signings.
