GOING…

GOING…

GONE!

WELL DONE, BELTRAN!

Beltran homered three times for the first time in his career on Thursday to beat the Colorado Rockies, 9-5, at Coors Field.

“I always wondered how it would feel to get three homers in a game. It feels great! Being able to do something like this, I feel like a little kid, honestly. I was smiling. I never smile a lot, but I was smiling. I was happy.”

David Wright, who had the day off, said it best I believe.

“He was a one-man wrecking crew today. … Carlos, obviously, any time you hit three home runs and drive in six, that’s a monster day. I don’t think there’s any secret how good he is.”

What a tremendous performance from a tremendous athlete and the best centerfielder the Mets ever had. It’s going to be very hard to see him go when that day comes. Very hard. Until then, I’ll enjoy moments like this one very much.
