According to Mets general manager Sandy Alderson, infielder Asdrubal Cabrera will play tonight in Atlanta.

The Mets traveled to Atlanta yesterday, but Cabrera remained in New York to be reevaluated. However, it seems as though he is good to go and that he will power through his hamstring issue.

Original report – June 10

Asdrubal Cabrera was removed from the game after three innings with a “tight left hamstring.” After grounding out in the bottom of the third inning, he grabbed at his left hamstring as he hobbled to first base.

After being the Mets’ best hitter for two months, Cabrera has cooled off considerably, possibly due to his “knee” that he tweaked on May 26th. He’s been playing through it and it shows as he’s 4-for-his-last-37 (including tonight) with one two-run home run and two walks.

Though Cabrera, 32, did take a stint on the disabled list last season that limited him to 135 games played in 2017, he’s been able to stay on the first throughout his career. Since 2011, he’s averaged 142 games per season and has appeared in 61 of the first 62 games this season.

The Mets have had 17 different players on the disabled list to date this season, which is tied with the Washington Nationals or the most in the Major Leagues.
