After being designated for assignment by the Mets on Friday, right-handed reliever Hansel Robles was claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday.

Robles, 27, appeared in 16 games for New York this season, pitching to a 5.03 ERA, 76 ERA+, 7.06 FIP and 1.576 WHIP in 19.2 innings.

The Dominican Republic native debuted for the Mets in 2015 and pitched in a career high 68 games for New York in 2016. That 2016 season was perhaps his best, as he recorded a 6-4 record with a 3.48 ERA, 116 ERA+, 3.56 FIP and 1.352 WHIP.

For his career, he has a 4.07 ERA in 208.0 innings.

Robles will report to Los Angeles’s Triple-A affiliate, the Salt Lake Bees.
