The Mets had a fantastic week last week. They swept the Guardians and continued their good play against the Pirates, taking two of three for a series win. They are now 5-1 since the Trade Deadline. This is what Mets fans expected the whole year. It would have been nice to see more weeks like this throughout the 2026 season; however, we can relish this feat as it seems to be a rare occurrence for these Mets.

Offensive Player of the Week: Carson Benge
Carson Benge has been swinging a good bat lately. Last week, he slashed .409/.435/.773 with an OPS of 1.208. This included two home runs with six RBIs over the course of last week. Benge also made a nice web gem out in left field on Friday. Unfortunately, he got a little banged up, injuring his wrist on the play in the outfield after slamming into the wall. X-rays were negative, so hopefully this does not affect his performance at the plate.

Pitcher of the Week: Sean Manaea
Sean Manaea had two strong performances last week, recording two wins. In his first game, he went six strong innings, struck out seven, and allowed two earned runs. He did give up quite a few walks and hits in this game; however, he learned from this in his next start. He went seven innings, struck out 11, only allowed one earned run, and only surrendered three hits with no walks. Manaea’s 11 strikeouts were a season-high for any Mets pitcher in 2026. This flash of brilliance looked like 2024 Manaea!
Honorable Mention: Luis Torrens
Despite only playing in three games last week, Torrens made them count. The catcher slashed .500/.615/1.100 with an OPS of 1.715. He hit two home runs and drove in seven over the course of last week’s games. The most interesting stat for Torrens last week might not be from the batter’s box. A defensive-first catcher (he lands in the 94th percentile in fielding run value), it’s nice to see Torrens’ bat come around.
Up Next:
The Mets are splitting an away series and a home series next week. First up, they play the Braves in Atlanta. The Braves have been doing well all season, going 71-47, and more so as of late, going 8-2 in their last 10. The Mets then take on the Nationals at home. The Nationals come into the week at 59-61, right ahead of the Mets in the NL East standings.
