On Monday, the Mets announced that closer Devin Williams was placed on the injured list due to a shoulder strain.
Williams’ first year with the Mets has not lived up to his three-year, $41.38 million dollar contract, posting a 4.66 ERA across 42 appearances. The Mets have not announced who will close games in his absence, but Kodai Senga got the first crack at it Monday at Truist Park.
Senga closed out an 8-5 win for his first MLB save in his first ever opportunity. He issued just a two-out walk in a scoreless ninth, striking out Matt Olson and Michael Harris II.

The Mets have now clinched the season series over the Braves. They will play the second of a three-game set in Atlanta at 7:15 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Nolan McLean will make the start, looking to continue his strong rookie season.
