The MLB draft only a little over a week away!.

We previously broke down the typical archetype Kris Gross and David Stearns typically draft: an athletic college bat that is an up-the-middle defender, with plus plate discipline, plus pitch recognition, a plus hit tool, and can run well.

As of our article on June 22, the projected players drafted up to that date were:

  • College Hitter – Aiden Robbins, OF (4)
  • College Pitcher – Tegan Kuhns, RHP (3)
  • College Pitcher – Cade Townsend, RHP
  • College Pitcher – Mason Edwards, LHP
  • High School Pitcher – Carson Boleman, LHP
  • College Hitter – Ryder Helfrick, C
  • High School Pitcher – Jared Grindlinger, LHP
  • College Hitter – Caden Sorrell, OF
  • High School Hitter – Will Brick, C
  • High School Hitter/Pitcher – Archer Horn, SS/RHP
  • College Hitter – AJ Gracia, OF
  • High School Pitcher – Brody Bumila, LHP
  • College Hitter – Daniel Jackson, C/OF

Mock Drafts Since June 2

MLB.com

Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com, in his most recent mock draft, projects the Mets to take outfielder Aiden Robbins with their first pick. While Robbins has profiled as a hit-over-power player, Jonathan Mayo mentions that he has hit for more power this spring facing SEC competition with Texas.

Baseball America

Joel Reuter of Baseball America also projects the Mets to take Aiden Robbins. They mention that the Mets sound like one of his biggest suitors at the moment, though they question his ability to stick in center field. They also mention Bo Lowrance as a fit. Lowrance is a slugging high school third baseman who has a good knowledge of the zone and 30 home run potential.

Bleacher Report

Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report projects the Mets to take high school left-handed pitcher Brody Bumila with their first pick of the draft. He has returned from internal brace surgery strong in 2026 and has a fastball that has touched 102 miles per hour. He is raw and athletic with upside.

Fansided

Mark Powell of Fansided projects the Mets to take high school shortstop Tyler Spangler with their first pick. He did not play much his senior season due to a shoulder injury, which could help him fall to the Mets in the draft. He was also suspended for five games and had a back injury this spring. He has a compact swing, good swing decisions, good bat speed, and power potential. Defensively, he may be able to stick at shortstop but may need to move to third base as he adds more muscle but projects to be a plus defender there.

Chris Landen of Fanside projects the Mets to take college catcher Daniel Jackson with their first pick. He is a power-over-hit catcher who runs well, though scouts are divided about whether he will be able to stay behind the plate. He should have the speed and power to play in the outfield.

Sports Illustrated

Ryan Phillips of Sports Illustrated projects the Mets to take high school shortstop Aiden Ruiz with their first pick. Ruiz is a switch-hitting shortstop with a plus glove, good swing decisions, and a line drive swing. He is committed to Vanderbilt and possesses good bat speed.

Recap

Aiden Robbins and Archer Horn seem to be the players closest to the type Stearns and Gross have gravitated to over the years. It will be interesting to see if they go against type and draft a prep bat or a pitcher with their first pick. As we get closer to the draft, it will also be interesting to monitor if there is more uniformity with these mock drafts.
