Mark Bowman of MLB.com tweets that Braves pitcher Reynaldo López is set to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder. In a best-case scenario, he could return in a couple of months.
It’s been a nightmarish start for the Mets’ division rivals. They’re now 0-6 after falling to the 7-0 Dodgers Tuesday night, not to mention Jurickson Profar’s 80-game suspension.
The Mets won’t face the Braves head-to-head until June 17 this year.

The Mets fell 4-2 on Tuesday in a quiet game. Despite managing just three hits, the Marlins took advantage of two errors by Francisco Lindor and a two-run homer from Kyle Stowers. The Mets recorded five hits, with Brandon Nimmo launching his second home run of the 2025 season.

Lance Lynn has announced his retirement on his wife’s podcast. His comments on the podcast genuinely makes it seem as if he feels like he has accomplished all that he hoped to accomplish. Lynn, who was drafted in 2008, spent 13 years in the bigs. He logged 2006 1/3 innings at the major-league level and won it all with the Cardinals in 2011.
Adam Ottavino has signed a one-year, major league deal with the New York Yankees. The 39-year-old right-hander returns to the team where he had his best season. In 2019 with the Yanks, he posted a 1.90 ERA over 66 1/3 innings in 2019. Now, he’ll look to begin the twilight of his career at age 39. He went on to make his Yankees debut on Tuesday, pitching 2/3 of a scoreless inning.
The Braves have designated 41-year-old right-hander Jesse Chavez for assignment, per Justin Toscano of the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. Having pitched two innings just two days ago, the move is primarily to free up a bullpen spot.
Former All-Star closer David Bednar has been demoted to Triple-A, according to Robert Murray of FanSided. He’ll head to the minors to work on his mechanics and aim to regain his 2021-23 form.
