Good morning, Mets fans!
The Mets dropped a close one Friday, as they lost 2-1 to the Mariners.
Max Scherzer did his thing, as he threw seven brilliant innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out six.
However, the Mets gave Scherzer the Jacob deGrom treatment, as they managed to only score one run on five hits over the course of the ballgame. This was the first time the Mets have only scored one run since April 30.
Liz Evangelou provided a further recap on the game.
Game 2 of the series against the Mariners is Saturday at 7:10 p.m. ET. Rookie George Kirby gets the ball for the Mariners, and Chris Bassitt toes the rubber for the Mets.
