AAA: Syracuse Mets 3 (13-20) vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 0 (11-22) Box Score

Syracuse has now won three straight against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre including shutouts in back-to-back games. The Mets scored twice in the first inning on a Johneshwy Fargas leadoff home run (his first in Triple-A this year) and a Travis Blankenhorn RBI single to drive in Tzu-Wei Lin. They wouldn’t score again until the eighth when Quinn Brody added a solo home run, his third of the year.

Mets pitching has blanked the RailRiders in consecutive games, this time on the back of another strong outing from David Peterson. The lefthander has now thrown eleven-straight scoreless innings in his last two starts with Syracuse. Peterson picked up six strikeouts in Friday’s outing while allowing just three hits and two walks. Felix Pena and Alex Claudio combined to pitch three perfect innings to close out the victory.

AA: Binghamton Rumble Ponies 3 (10-20) vs. New Hampshire Fisher Cats 7 (14-16) Box Score

Binghamton was held to three runs on six hits as they fell to New Hampshire to even the series at 2-2. Francisco Alvarez, Brett Baty, and Hayden Senger each had two hits to account for all of Binghamton’s offense. Brett Baty hit his third home run of the year, a two-run shot in the fourth inning to get the Rumble Ponies on the board. The 22-year-old third baseman has now hit safely in seven-straight games going 11-for-28 in that span with three doubles and two home runs. Alvarez also has doubles in back-to-back contests though he hasn’t hit a home run since April 17.

Griffin struggled in his second start with Binghamton allowing three runs on five hits in 3.2 innings. Joe Zanghi was solid in relief allowing just a walk in 1.1 innings. Zanghi, a 27-year-old former 24th-round pick, has allowed just one run in 13.2 innings so far this season while striking out 20 after posting an 8.69 ERA in 2021. The rest of the Rumble Ponies’ bullpen didn’t fare as well as Nate Fisher and Yeizo Campos combined to allow four earned runs in the final three innings on five hits and three walks.

A: St. Lucie Mets 7 (21-10) vs. Lakeland Flying Tigers 4 (13-17)  Box Score

St. Lucie picked up a third consecutive win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers, scoring seven runs on four hits. Stanley Consuegra belted his second home run of the year, a 411-foot shot in the seventh inning. Junior Tilien would then add a three-run homer later in the inning, his first of the year, giving the Mets a 5-1 lead. Meanwhile, Omar De Los Santos continues to showcase his speed with his 15th stolen bag of the year and a fifth-inning triple. De Los Santos, a 2019 signee from the Dominican Republic, now has an OPS of .813 on the season.

Carson Seymour continued his excellent start to the season with five scoreless innings while striking out six. Soft contact continues to be key for Seymour as he generated an average exit velocity of 85.9 MPH thanks to a hard sinker that he threw 58 times (69% of his total pitches). Trey McLoughlin allowed Lakeland to tie the game at one in the 7th inning but earned the win after St. Lucie rallied for four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Nate Jones picked up the save after Daniel Juarez allowed a two-run home run to Jose De La Cruz in the eighth.
