Yesterday, managerial candidate Buck Showalter interviewed with Mets team officials on a Zoom Meeting. According to Mike Puma of The New York Post reports that a person close to the interview process said “they [Mets team officials] were pretty impressed with Buck today.”
In addition, Don Kelly has removed himself from contention for the new Mets manager spot due to personal reasons. Nate Mendelson has more on this story.

The MLB Rule 5 Draft did not happen today because of the lockout, but the minor league version did occur. Some of the notable transactions within the draft was the Mets added Alex Valverde and Carlos Ocampo. They also lost Tommy Wilson and Allan Winans.
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Wayne Kirby (former Padres and Orioles coach) was unable to come to an agreement with the Los Angeles Angels on a coaching position. Kirby could be a candidate to reunite with Buck Showalter if Showalter becomes the new Mets manager.

2000: Instead of signing a new contract with the New York Mets following the 2000 season, Mike Hampton signed an eight-year, 121 million dollar contract with the Colorado Rockies. Hampton had a 15-10 record and a 3.14 ERA in the 2000 season, so him signing elsewhere was a noticeable loss for the franchise.
