Right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco will make a rehab start, Tim Healey of Newsday reported on Monday.
He’s scheduled to pitch two to three innings on Thursday for one of the Mets’ minor league affiliates. It has not yet been decided which affiliate it’l be with.
Carrasco was acquired by the Mets in the blockbuster deal that also landed them Francisco Lindor. He has yet to pitch in the regular season for the Mets this year, but has had to sit out with a torn right hamstring.
Carrasco would be a huge asset in the Mets’ rotation, especially given the injuries to Joey Lucchesi and David Peterson. The 34-year-old posted a 2.91 ERA and 1.5 fWAR over 12 starts in 2020.
