Binghamton won its fourth game in a row on Wednesday behind big nights from Oller, Mangum, and Romero.

Mangum led off the game with a groundball single up the middle, stole second base, and then was thrown out at third when he tried to advance on a Nick Meyer grounder. Mangum was also caught stealing later in the game and hit a line drive double.

Mark Vientos closed his incredible month of June with a relatively quiet night, but he did manage to hit a line drive double to left field. It was his tenth double of the season. He now has 22 extra base hits and 19 singles.

Carlos Cortes had a line drive single to center in five plate appearances. He also grounded into his second double play of the season.

Romero’s RBI double in the fifth inning extended Binghamton’s lead to 6-2. His wRC+ in 136 plate appearances with the Rumble Ponies is 114.

After getting five solid innings from Oller, Campos tossed three excellent innings out of the bullpen. Jared Robinson got the last three outs by striking out three. His K% is now 34.2%.

Brooklyn lost the first game of their doubleheader despite Butto’s best start of the season and a home run from Cody Bohanek.

It was a quiet night for everyone in Brooklyn’s lineup except Bohanek and Alvarez. Alvarez had two singles, an infield hit in the fourth inning and a line drive to center in the seventh. He has slashed .281/.387/.573 in 106 PA with Brooklyn.

Butto pounded the zone, walking only one and throwing 63 of his 87 pitches for strikes. He has now struck out 25.1% of his batters faced and walked only 7.0%.

Alvarez didn’t play in Game 2 but Baty, Mauricio, Antoine Duplantis, and Luke Ritter carried the offense in a one run win.

Mauricio hit a home run, an absolute no-doubter for the Cyclones. He has now hit eight home runs in 190 plate appearances in 2021 after hitting only seven in 751 combined plate appearances from 2018 to 2019.

Aberdeen never got Baty out. He had a groundball single to left field, a walk, and a double on a flyball to left. His wRC+ is now 163.

Brooklyn almost let a 7-1 lead slip away after Vilera and Conner O’Neill combined to give up five runs in the last two innings, but Mitch Ragan picked up his second save by getting the final two outs of the game.

Ramirez was on base three times and picked up two stolen bases. Both of his hits were line drive singles to center and he’s now 10-for-12 (83.3%) on stolen base attempts.

Palmer was on base four times. His two hits were a line drive single to right and a groundball single to left. He is now 16-for-18 (88.9%) on stolen base attempts and his wRC+ is 101 despite only eight extra base hits and no home runs.

Matt Dyer continued his power surge with a homer and two doubles. He now has twice as many extra base hits than singles and is 3-for-4 stealing bases.
