After Syracuse’s two-run ninth-inning rally fell short, the Mets lost to the IronPigs 8-4 on Friday night. The Syracuse offense was stone cold for much of the game as the Lehigh Valley pitching staff tossed seven perfect innings against the Mets.
J.D. Davis also had trouble picking up a hit as he went 0-for-3 with a walk in his third rehab game in the minors. Despite this, the Syracuse offense came alive in the final two innings, garnering five hits and scoring four runs before a forceout and flyout ended the rally.

- Arodys Vizcaíno, RHP: 2.0 IP, H, BB, 4 K, 3.38 ERA
Although Jesús Reyes helped keep the Mets in contention with five scoreless innings, the floodgates opened in the sixth for the IronPigs as they scored seven runs. After a troublesome sixth, Seth Lugo took the mound in the seventh inning in his second rehab game.
Lugo kept the IronPigs bats quiet as he allowed no hits and struck out a batter in his one inning of play. He was responsible for a run in the eighth after giving up a walk to lead off the inning.

After Lagrange’s solo shot, the Binghamton bats went cold with no hits, reaching base just three times via walks and a hit by pitch in the final four innings.

This cold streak allowed the SeaWolves to mount a comeback as they scored five unanswered runs against Binghamton pitching. After Luc Rennie’s eight strikeout performance, the Rumble Ponies bullpen had a tough time holding onto the lead as they gave up nine hits and struck out just one batter.
A+: Brooklyn Cyclones (6-9) 4, Hudson Valley Renegades (8-8) 1

- Luke Ritter, 1B: 1-for-4, RBI, SO, .241/.276/.444
A two-hit, two-RBI game from fifth-ranked Mets prospect Brett Baty helped lift the Cyclones over Hudson Valley at Maimonides Park to bring Brooklyn within one game of clinching the series. The Cyclone bats got things started early with a three-run first inning that included an RBI-single from Baty to get things going for Brooklyn.
Luke Ritter and Jose Mena batted in a pair of runners that ultimately gave Brooklyn the 4-1 win. Baty hit his second RBI in the fifth with an infield single to score a runner from third.

Friday night’s game also saw a stellar performance from the Cyclones pitching staff. After giving up the Rengades’ lone run in the first, Josh Walker gave up just two more hits and struck out four batters before being pulled after the sixth.
Eric Orze was a solid closer for Brooklyn as he gave up no hits and struck out three batters in the final two innings to earn his first pro save.
A: St. Lucie Mets (12-4) 8, Palm Beach Cardinals (5-11) 4
- Francisco Álvarez, C: 0-for-3, 3 BB, 2 SO, .425/.571/.600
- Warren Saunders, 1B: 2-for-5, 2 R, 2 H, RBI, .234/.345/.298
Thanks to a four-run fifth inning, the St. Lucie Mets won their fifth straight game with a victory over Palm Beach. Warren Saunders and Cole Kleszcz both had multi-hit nights with two hits apiece, combining for three runs and two RBIs.
Despite the Mets’ offensive success, top prospect Francisco Álvarez couldn’t make much contact as he hit 0-for-3. However, Álvarez did reach base a few times, walking three times at the plate.
- Drake Nightengale, RHP: 2.0 IP, 2 H, R, ER, 3 K, HR, 8.44 ERA
