Wenninger put up an even more impressively odd line than Jonah Tong did on Wednesday, allowing three hits – and all three were home runs. His control was not strong today as he walked three batters and hit another. One could wonder if Wenninger would perform better in Flushing, since Syracuse has been his kryptonite all season.

JT Benson has been a great story, as he has gone from an undrafted player in Low-A to Double-A in a single season while slashing .261/.345/.519 across three levels.

1/3 of the trade return for Freddy Peralta, Hill was great on Thursday – and even if he wasn’t, his offense would have put up enough runs to win a football game.

The Cyclones were clearly running a track meet, stealing six bases while only getting caught once. Smith homered for his second-straight game, showing some of the tools that made him a crucial part of the Peralta trade.

Calvin Ziegler cut his ERA with an impressive outing, striking out all three batters he faced. The Cyclones had three pitchers throw wild pitches and hit three batters, but limited the Blue Rocks to a lone hit by Jose Mijares.

Low-A

Peña has been hot as of late after looking like he was tiring, with a nine-game hitting streak. He also made error No. 23 on the season, though.

  • RHP Jose Lopez (7.84 ERA) 5 1/3 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 1 HR allowed (52 of 81 pitches for strikes)

Lopez did not pitch as poorly as his line suggests, struggling in the third inning where he allowed all six runs, but still pitching another 2 1/3 innings. Julio Zayas pitched two innings and served as the DH once the game became a blowout.

Dominican Summer League

Asigen made two appearances at the plate and was pulled after a fourth-inning ground out. Royner Bravo has been on a tear, having three or more hits in three of his last five games
